2013 NFL Draft: The Year of the Quarterback

The 2012 NFL Draft is still a month away but it's never too early to get excited about next year. Quarterbacks are expected to get drafted #1 and #2 in 2012 but the 2013 draft might be even more loaded with QB talent.

When Matt Barkley, Landry Jones and Tyler Wilson decided to return to school it gave the 2013 group a big boost. These players project as first rounders next year and Barkley could even go #1 overall. Along with these seniors, there is a talented class of Junior signal callers including: Tyler Bray of Tennessee (another possible #1 overall pick) and Aaron Murray of Georgia.

Tyler Bray has prototypical size for the QB position at 6 foot 6 inches tall. He has an advanced understanding of the game, great arm strength and the ability to make all the throws. I can't help but be reminded of Payton Manning, seeing Bray in that Tennessee uniform.

Aaron Murray has a wicked strong arm and can throw rockets down the field. He doesn't have ideal height, listed at 6,1, but we've seen plenty of QB's with less than ideal size find success at the NFL level.

Matt Barkley may be the best of the bunch and has plenty of weapons to throw to at USC. He's an early favorite to win the Heisman Trophy and should have a huge Senior season. Landry Jones should also have a huge season and set records for the Sooners.

If these five signal callers play up to their potential, we could see all five picked in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
