David Wilson Scouting Report

NFL Draft Prospect:

David Wilson - Running Back - Virginia Tech

A junior running back who could be a first rounder in April. Has big play ability and all the tools to be an every down back in the NFL.

Pros

Has great size/speed combination and the type of elusiveness and quick cut ability that makes for a successful NFL rusher. Has great acceleration and stop/start ability and can get to the second level in a hurry. Very shifty runner with elite top end speed.  40 yard dash in the 4.3 range.

Has very good power and a compact frame. Runs between the tackles well and gets low to the ground.  At 5,10 205 pounds he has good size for the position and enough strength to finish off runs. Has good hands and catches the ball well but will need to gain more experience in this area of the game.

Cons

Needs to do a better job of taking what's available and not trying to make every run into a big play. Not the most powerful back and might not be the best goal line runner at the next level.

Projection: Late first or early second round in the 2012 NFL Draft
